As beauty editors, we get bombarded with a ton of new products every day (we know-tough life). Reviewed is a series where we report on some of the best products we've tried. Whether it's a drugstore lipstick that lasted all day or a hand cream that saved us this winter, you'll find all our favorites in this column. Enjoy!
I have oily skin and am very prone to breakouts. When oil cleansers first became a thing, I wanted to stay as far away from them as possible. But because I'm also susceptible to peer pressure (beauty-trend FOMO is most certainly a thing), I decided to give them a try and see what the hype was all about.
To my pleasant surprise, I learned that oil cleansers-the good ones, at least-don't add excess oil to your skin. They're great for taking off hard-to-remove makeup and are extremely hydrating on days when your skin feels dry. The one that I live by now and strongly recommend to everyone in my life is Burt's Bees Facial Cleansing Oil.
I first used it after coming home from a night out, and it removed absolutely everything with such ease. I wear waterproof mascara and liner every day but up my eye-shadow game with a dark smoky eye whenever I go out. Part of the reason I skip washing my face before bed on the weekends (yes, as a beauty editor, I really should know better) is that I don't have the energy to stand at my sink scrubbing my eye makeup off for 15 minutes. But this oil broke down the toughest eye products I put on my face in a matter of seconds. I really had no excuse to skip washing my face anymore.
After a few days of using it both in the morning and at night, I noticed my skin felt so much smoother and softer. The appearance of my pores also decreased and my complexion started to brighten up. I credit this to the coconut and argan oils that it's made of; it's full of vitamin E and other rich minerals that are so good for your skin. It really does clean without stripping away natural oils that you need. As an added bonus, my acne started to clear up. A miracle cleanser that you can find at a great price at your local drugstore?
