Imagine a massive space bustling with hundreds of beauty brands that cater to natural hair. From mainstream to indie brands alike, over 300,000 attendees gathered together at the World Natural Healthy Lifestyle EventВ because they shared one thing in common: a love of hair. Created by Taliah Waajid, who is the founder of Taliah Waajid haircare line, this was the 21st year of the annual conference and featured over 300 exhibitors.

Hosted in Atlanta, Georgia, the conference was full of vendors, panels, performances, and more. It was my first time attending a natural hair conference, and my eyes marveled at all of the #BlackGirlMagic everywhere I turned. The celebration of natural hair has had its ups and downs. Although women are still being discriminated against in the workplace for wearing natural styles and young girls are being suspended from school, progress has been made.В

Attending this conference was an eye-opening experience, as I'm still processing what it means for me to fully love my natural hair. Being surrounded by women who openly embrace the array of textures, kinks, and coils they're born with was inspirational, to say the least. I walked around for hours entranced by all of the brands I've grown to love since I was a little girl and new brands I'd just discovered. This space was a curation of black hairВ in all of its glory. I appreciated seeing all of the brands but mostly loved that this event sparked a much-needed conversation around hair, empowerment, and being a black woman in America today.

The conference featured a panel of women excelling in a variety of fields, from entertainment to climbing the corporate ladder. These women shared their truths on how they've used their power to ultimately define their own success. To think that this event was birthed from a natural haircare line that has been around for years is monumental. It shows that a space cultivated for beauty inclusivity will always be in demand. Thousands of women showed up to be in the same room, which says a lot about the vital role natural haircare brands play in pushing the celebration of diversity forward.
If you weren't able to attend the conference this year, you don't want to miss the next one. Ahead are the Taliah Waajid natural hair hero products you need to know about.В
